Check for an update
Open extension settings and use Check for update. Astral compares the installed version with a pinned release manifest.
Verification before writing
The updater checks the archive size, SHA-256, per-file checksums, safe paths, version, and extension manifest identity. It writes only after Chrome grants access to the selected unpacked folder.
Local data stays in Chrome
Updating the files in place preserves Chrome extension storage. Keep a backup of the unpacked folder before a major update and reload the extension if Chrome requests it.
